The Ponsford Plate, our handicap club doubles was fiercely contested on Sunday the 16th of September.
It was a long but splendid day...and after many hours of emotional and occasionally vocal games, two pairs came to the fore in order to claim the crown.
Angela Probyn and Will Chawner went from strength to strength through the tournament and whilst taking a break from battling the odd lost wasp...Will hit some cracking shots. Alas, it was all in vain as the sublime Patricia Moffat & dodgy lefty Lindsey Henniker-Heaton(LH²) stepped up to become overall champions winning 6/4 in the final.
Congratulations to them.
And thanks to the Ponsfords for hosting and feeding us.
Well done everybody for staying all day and making it such fun.
It just shows how much better a tournament is with constant abuse from the dedans 😁
