We are very sorry to report that Peter (PJ) Probyn, the Club’s President, died peacefully in his sleep .
PJ was one of the very first players to join the Club after its formation in 1985, and was active as both a player and as an enthusiastic recruiter of new members in the years leading up to the building of our court in 1997.
He served as a member of the Club committee and as a Director of the Limited Company (which owns the court building) for many years.
He took on the role of Chairman in 2002, and served in that role for four eventful years which saw the Club develop and grow under his expert guidance.
Peter continued to participate in many of the Club’s activities in subsequent years, and was elected as President in 2018 in recognition of his prolonged and significant contributions to the Club for over 35 years.
He will be sadly missed, and we send our deepest sympathies to Angela and the rest of his family
